ORGANICS

It's simple.

"Organic" means that your fruit and vegetables have been grown and processed without the use of synthetic chmeicals, artifical fertilisers, pesticideds or herbicides. The use of hormones, antibiotics and vaccines is also not allowed. Organic food is not irradiated and does not contain additivies. This basically means that they have been grown the way nature intended.

Eating organically not only decreases the amounts of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers you ingest, it also increases the amounts of important nutrients and minerals.

Why not try one of our convenient value boxes. The selection changes from week to week, however we always include the basics such as onion, carrot, potato, garlic, green vegies, salad items and fruit (when in season).

$35 Value Box to suit 1 person
$55 Value Box to suit a couple or small family

(Estimates only as everyone’s consumption is different)

What is the box scheme?

Traditionally a vegetable box scheme was a delivery of fresh, seasonal organic produce, run by the farmer, either directly to your home or to a local collection point.

Gold Coast Organics for Everyone has adopted the box scheme and uses local farmers where possible. Otherwise produce is bought direct from the wholesalers United Organics and Eco Farms based in Brisbane and delivered fresh to your door.

A customer signs up to a weekly or fortnightly delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables. The selection is chosen on a weekly basis by Gold Coast Organics for Everyone, so you don't always know what you will receive.

You can opt out of any items you don't like, in advance.

The advantages of a vegetable box delivery.

Fresher food

Our orders are pre sold. We only order what we need for that week. Therefore it is important to have your order in by 12noon Sundays. Or you can arrange a standing order to avoid disappointment.

Wider variety fruit and vegetables

Whilst you can opt out of certain items you don't like, you often receive produce that you have never tried before. This expands the variety of your diet and is likely to make it more balanced.

By receiving a weekly delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables, you are likely to be buying more than you would in a supermarket. There is a drive to empty last week's box before the next one arrives. So using a box scheme means you are likely to increase the proportion of fruit and vegetables in your diet. You are also likely to need to do weekly menu planning, to make sure you use everything in your box.

Reduce Food Miles /CO2 Footprint

Organic farming is significantly more environmentally friendly than 'conventional' farming which generates many millions of tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Is a box scheme for me?

Using a box scheme isn't as easy as shopping at a supermarket. It takes planning of your family's meals and a commitment to cooking a wider range of vegetables from scratch.

If you're used to eating plenty of fruit and vegetables and don't mind the element of surprise involved in a box scheme, then you should be fine.

If you live in a household of fussy eaters who aren't keen on vegetables, you could waste a lot of your delivery. You will be better off visiting our website and ordering exactly what you need.
